Interdisciplinary teams of students from the Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center and the Urban Affairs and Planning program at Virginia Tech, in collaboration with students from Georgetown University, competed in the 2016 Hines Student Competition sponsored by the Urban Land Institute (ULI). A team composed of William Hu (VT Master of Landscape Architecture program), Zachary Moshier and Wonkyu Lee (VT Master of Architecture program), Shawn Ho (Georgetown Real Estate program), and Sarah Diehl (Georgetown Urban Planning program) received an Honorable Mention for the project “Midtown Gateway.” Faculty advisors included Uwe Brandes, assoc. dean and exec. director of Georgetown’s Urban and Regional Planning program, and Prof. Susan Piedmont-Palladino, interim director of the Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center and director of the Urban Design program at Virginia Tech.
