At the 3rd biennial international “Robotic Fabrication in Architecture, Art, and Design” convention (Rob|Arch2016), recently held in Sydney, Australia, Virginia Tech’s Center for Design Research was the only university group to host a workshop independent from any Australian academic institution.

Workshop participants designed and produced a 3 meter tall arch spanning 4 meters, with all parts individually customized through robotic fabrication. Practitioners and students from all over the world participated in the workshop which featured the first ever public deployment of the new Autodesk Dynamo-to-Robot plugin that was developed through a collaboration between the Center for Design Research and Autodesk.
