Alumna Appointed Director of Architecture and Urban Design at Washington Univ. in St. Louis

Heather Woofter (B.Arch. 1991) has been appointed Director of the College of Architecture and Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Design at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.
Following her graduation from Virginia Tech, Woofter began her career as a project architect with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., Marks Barfield in London, and Robert Luchetti Associates in Cambridge, Mass. She also earned a Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. In 2003, Woofter co-founded the award-winning St. Louis-based firm Axi:Ome llc.
Joining the faculty at Washington University in 2004, Woofter has served as chair of the graduate architecture program since 2010. She became a full professor in 2015. She had previously served as an assistant professor at Virginia Tech and as a visiting professor at both Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and Konkuk University in Seoul. She also has taught at Boston Architectural College and Roger Williams University.
Woofter succeeds Dean Bruce Lindsey, the E. Desmond Lee Professor for Community Collaboration and current president of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), who has led the College for the past 10 years.
