The faculty, students, and alumni of the School of Architecture + Design are saddened by the passing of Sean William Spillane (B.Arch. 2015).

Sean received his Bachelor of Architecture degree Summa Cum Laude in the Spring of 2015, with a minor in Leadership and Social Change. He also earned the Honors Scholar distinction. He was a Residential Leadership Community (RLC) Pylon Award recipient in 2011-2012. In 2013, he received an Honorable Mention in the Warren Kark Third-Year Competition (with Patrick McMinn and Adrienne Milner). He was awarded First Place in the annual “Block Out” competition in 2013 (with Andrew Economou and Erika Fields). He studied as an exchange student at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, Switzerland during his 4th year. Sean served as a College of Architecture & Urban Studies (CAUS) Student Ambassador. He was also a member of the Digital Mentorship Collaborative (DMCo) and the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS). He was recently named a semi-finalist (with Andrew Economou) in the Memorials for the Future competition sponsored by the National Park Service (NPS), the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC), and the Van Alen Institute.
