Rendyr placed second in the Apex Entrepreneur Challenge for their concept of a portable laser cutter that allows designers increased access to rapid prototyping technology without the limitations of conventional machines. The team won $10,000 and an additional $3,000 for the award of Fan Favorite. The team comprised of Architecture and Industrial Design majors, Martin Angst, Kaelum Hasler, Reid Holbert, and Callan McGill, from the School of Architecture + Design, and engineering majors Elijah Hodges and Liam Lawrence. The Virginia Tech Entrepreneur Challenge gave ten finalist teams from across campus the opportunity to pitch their business ideas before a panel of judges.
