This semester, architecture students in Professional Practice with Kevin Jones have been working to develop prototype creative practices designed to tackle global challenges – environmental resilience, climate change, food access, educational disparities, affordable housing, transportation, and immigration. On Wednesday, the students made their final "shark tank" entrepreneurial pitches to Virginia Tech faculty Megan Dickhans (Pamplin College of Business) and Edward Becker (A+D).

Congratulations to 5th year architecture students, Miguel Choi, Rachel Leonardo, and Jake Browning for having their firm – Major Developments – chosen as the recipient of (hypothetical) investment backing. Their proposal featured an innovative combination of real estate development, urban farming, corporate partnerships, and affordable housing designed to target provide healthy food and employment to underserved communities in Los Angeles.
