For its annual Career Day, Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture+Design hosted 107 Design firms from across the US. This year’s Career Day events began on Sunday, February 24, 2019, with a lecture by Pritzker Prize winning architect Thom Mayne, Principal of Morphosis Architects, Los Angeles.

The capacity crowd at the Lyric Theater, including professionals, faculty members, and students, enjoyed Mr. Mayne’s energetic overview of his progressive methods and works that have led to Mayne’s stature as a world-renowned architect.

Following the lecture, at the Holtzmann Center reception, firm representatives and faculty members had the opportunity to informally follow-up with Mr. Mayne. Monday morning, Thom responded to student questions at one of School’s recurring  “Conversation with Students” events.

All day Monday, students met with the firms at their booths at the VT Inn, sharing their portfolios and discussing opportunities for summer internships and/or permanent positions.

Since many of the firms send representatives who are alumni of the School, the event contributed greatly to the further expansion of the already robust network of high quality professional firms who understand the School’s educational value and seek out graduating seniors to join their teams.

We thank them for their ongoing, long-lasting support.
