Ferrari Archive Opens in Cowgill Hall
February 1, 2018
Inaugurated in October 2017, the Lucy and Olivio Ferrari Archive on the first floor of Cowgill Hall holds more than 1,000 items donated by Faculty Emerita Lucy Ferrari and her late husband, architect and Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus Olivio Ferrari. The items, ranging from the Ferraris' original designs, paintings, sculptures, weavings, notes, and chair prototypes to photographs and student works, represent the critical role the couple played in establishing Virginia Tech's Architecture program over 52 years ago, an impact still felt in its teaching. The archive also includes an extensive collection of books on art, architecture, and design donated by Archive Curator Prof. Frank Weiner and his wife, Lynn Eichhorn.
The Ferrari Archive will be open and available for use by students and faculty at the following times during the spring semester of 2018:
- Tuesdays, Thursdays: 9 am - noon
- Wednesdays: 10:15 am - noon
Arrangements can be made for access to the Archive at other times.
The Archive's collection is still actively being catalogued, but all visitors are welcome. Please note that Archive materials/books must stay in the room. Please do not bring food or drinks into the Archive.
