After placing second in the Apex Entrepreneur challenge and winning Fan Favorite, Rendyr went on to compete in the American Evolution Innovators Cup held at the Tom Tom Summit & Festival in Charlottesville, VA. Rendyr won first place in competition with 24 semi-finalist teams from 14 Virginia colleges and universities in the Innovators Cup’s Commonwealth Challenge. Their mission is to maximize access to rapid prototyping by eliminating the constraints of conventional machines with the introduction of Optic, their portable laser cutter. The prize money of $20,000 brings the team another step closer to their product launch this summer. The team comprises of Architecture and Industrial Design majors, Martin Angst, Kaelum Hasler, Reid Holbert, and Callan McGill, from the School of Architecture + Design, and engineering majors Elijah Hodges and Liam Lawrence.
