Bedford Launches Architecture Exchange Website
October 25, 2019
Over the past three years, Assistant Professor Joseph Bedford has been working on creating the Architecture Exchange. This platform is making its soft-launch this week and seeks to foster the development of architectural discourse through several audio, visual, print and event projects.
The Architecture Exchange hosts architecture's first audio journal, Attention, the newest issue of which, Attention no. 5: The Question of Theory, is out now. The Architecture Exchange also fosters new intellectual exchange projects with contemporary theorists. The first two exchanges were with Graham Harman and Chantal Mouffe and the next will be with Jacques Ranciere, who will exchange ideas with Joan Ockman, Anthony Vidler, Peggy Deamer, and Michael Young at the Cooper Union on Nov 16. Each exchange results in a book published through the new Bloomsbury Press Architecture Exchange book series. The Architecture Exchange also includes a new project in collaboration with e-flux, called Theory's Curriculum that seeks to catalyze new developments in teaching architectural theory. It also hosts a growing archive of oral histories and runs a series of discursive workshops, including a new annual Rome Teaching Workshop in collaboration with the School of Architecture + Design that focuses on contemporary architectural theory. There is currently an Open Call for Rome Teaching Fellows for 2020 to support the new VT Rome Program.
