Congratulations to M.Arch. student, Jackson Reed, for being the top award winner in the AIA Virginia Prize competition. His submission titled, "Frames of Reference," won out for the "elegant way the structure could be both unveiled and packed away, noting that there was a 'kind of magic to how it captured the light.'" His submission displayed "a technical superiority and a 'completeness' to its presentation" and the jury appreciated "the fresh approach to a shipping container building, particularly the way the volume could be reconfigured."

Also recognized for Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center Best of School was WAAC grad student, Meredith Sattler, for her submission "Deadrise Oyster Bar." Her entry expressed, "what the environment has to offer in a really simple, pleasurable way."

Honorable mentions from our school were Juan Urey (WAAC), Andy Merida, Anna Fletcher, and Kirt Hilker.
