Dr. Nathan King was recognized as a core collaborator on the programming, development, and design of the Autodesk Technology Center in Boston which was awarded the Charles Pankow Award for Innovation awarded by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

The Charles Pankow Award for Innovation was established by the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF) in 1996. Named for industry visionary Charles J. Pankow, the award recognizes the contributions of organizations working collaboratively to advance the design and construction industry by introducing innovation into practice.

The Autodesk Technology Center Boston (BUILD Space) is an innovation space for innovation in the building industry. The BUILD Space (BUilding, Innovation, Learning and Design), located in South Boston’s Innovation District, is a 34,000 sq ft facility housing workshops for large format metal fabrication, machining, wood working, digital fabrication, composites, glass, robotics, additive manufacturing, and construction scale assembly spaces.

Along with the Harvard Graduate School of Design, University of Stuttgart – Institute for Computational Design and Construction, Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), Texas A&M, the Architectural Association (AA), Carnegie Mellon University, ETH-Zurich and others, the Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design - Center for Design Research (CDR) is part of the Autodesk Technology Center Residency Program that allows students, faculty, and industry partners to collaborate in an Open Innovation environment.

The Autodesk Technology Center, located in the BUILD Space in Boston, Massachusetts, was named the recipient of the 2019 Charles Pankow Award for Innovation, during the annual Outstanding Projects and Leaders Gala, March 14, in Arlington, VA.
