Fall 2023 Riva Students Return

Virginia Tech's Fall 2023 Riva group, led by Professor Joseph Bedford, recently returned from an enriching semester abroad. This dynamic group of students, including Michael Cavicchio, Lilly Church, Jessica Drouin, Jake Easton, Macy Engelbrecht, Riley Fulmer, Kaylus Hundley, Margaret Mays, Brynn McClatchy, Gavin Carter, Celeste Constantine, Elena Grabow, Gage Moyer, Erin Stutenroth, and Grace Holben, visited over 120 buildings in 6 European Countries: Holland, France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain.

They focused in particular on the works of 15 architectural practices which they researched in closer depth, reading their books and making presentations on their work: OMA, SANAA, De Vylder Vinck Taillieu, Office KDGVS, Lacaton and Vassal, MVRDV, Zaha Hadid, Caruso St John, Peter Zumthor, Valerio Olgiati, Frank Gehry, Jean Nouvel, Flores and Prates, Enric Miralles / EMBT and Herzog and de Meuron.
