Every summer, the School of Architecture and School of Design hold a Foundation Design Laboratory for the change of major students transferring into Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, or Industrial Design.

The students’ first exhibition was in homage to the Powers of Ten by Charles and Ray Eames,. in which they were tasked with photographic exploration in biological, geological, and graphical scales. Starting with a selection of three design terms and applications, students then enlarged the zones of interest. After the introduction of color, students enlarged those zones a number of times, eventually resulting in a single significant color from their study.
