Last week, students from the Appalachian Futures Lab shared updated design presentations with their community partners in Pocahontas, Virginia. The teams are focusing on strategies of architectural repair and reuse for multiple sites and buildings in the historic center of the town. Pocahontas was the birthplace of the coal boom in our region more than 100 years ago and the community has welcomed the team with open arms, impressive arrays of food, and enthusiastic collaboration.
