Andy Goolsby, AIA, a 2007 graduate from what is now the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design, is one of 30 recipients of the 2024 AIA National Young Architects Award. The award honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the architecture profession early in their careers. Young architects are classified as those who have been professionals licensed 10 years or fewer regardless of age.

Goolsby is known as an architect of focus and fervor. He quickly became a partner at @with.architecture in Durham, North Carolina designing supportive environments for people to work, live, and learn in community. His award-winning projects include urban cohousing multi-family buildings, expansions to historic churches, and elevated cabins for the Girls Scouts. Alongside his partner and fellow Virginia Tech alumni Mike Cincala, he won AIA North Carolina's first Activate competition to design and build a structure to showcase the values of architects to the public. A leader in his firm, AIA Triangle, and throughout Durham, Goolsby consistently demonstrates the many ways in which design professionals can make a difference in the world.
