Aesthetic Microstructures
Foundation Studio
Instructor: Edgar Garcia

Exploring and dissecting nacre microstructures to discover the design of new and advanced structural models.

Foundation Studio focused on exploring the connections between biology and the analysis of microstructures, providing a platform for investigating highly complex structures using digital technologies and 3D printing manufacturing methods. The multidisciplinary work applied during the processes and creative exercises carried out in class led to the creation of new structural models with attractive aesthetics and significant potential for application across a wide range of disciplines within the field of design.

The Monument

Designing a monument would be the ideal project to create a visually striking and attractive structure with the ability to adapt to different scales, integrating structural systems, space design, and a unique aesthetic expression. It also provides an appropriate scenario for integrating design principles and concepts into the development of new creative processes.
