On Friday afternoon, Professor Bill Galloway's third-year studio pinned up preliminary plans and sections of their fall semester design project. The students were tasked with designing a sailing school for the Virginia Tech Sailing Club at Claytor Lake State Park. Programmatic requirements include classrooms, offices, and boat storage to be used by the club members, as well as a covered outdoor area where sailing regattas could be held. The students critiqued their peers' work in small groups, asking each other questions about the structure, materials, formal syntax, and geometry present in their drawings.
