Chicago Based Screen Printer Jay Ryan Speaks with Foundation Students

Every academic year, Chris Pritchett ( @cpritche ), the foundation program chair, brings in artists from different disciplines to share their stories and inspire our students. This year, Pritchett invited Chicago based Printmaker Jay Ryan (@thebirdmachine) to speak to our Foundation students about his art and career. Jay began screen printing in late 1995, learning from Steve Walters at Screwball Press. The two worked together until 1999, at which point Jay started The Bird Machine print shop. From 2002-2007, Jay served as Vice President of the American Poster Institute, a non-profit group which manages the successful FLATSTOCK series of poster shows.
