Professor Paola Zellner Bassett, Director of the IAWA, will deliver the keynote lecture at the sixth International Conference on Architecture and Gender (ICAG): “1973-2023 (International) Archive of Women in Architecture”, hosted by Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain), October 3 - 6, 2023. The opening lecture is entitled: "The IAWA: Activism in the periphery.” Paola will also lead a two-day workshop, INTERNATIONAL ARCHIVE OF WOMEN IN ARCHITECTURE (IAWA): ARCHITECTURAL ARCHIVES AS A RESEARCH RESOURCE. ANALYZING, PHOTOGRAPHING, MAPPING, CONTEXTUALISING, INVESTIGATING. This workshop will be held from October 2 - 3, 2023, at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, UPV. The workshop will process and study the original material donated by women architects participating in the congress responding to the call 1x1 ICAG.

The 1x1 ICAG call is as follows:
All women participating and attending the conference are invited to donate a one piece of original flat work of their authorship that marks a breakthrough in their education or practice. Original (not copies of) flat work may include a sketch, a drawing, a diagram, a collage, a print, a screen print, a photograph, an outline or synopsis of written work, or an academic project prompt, among others. There are no media or size restrictions. The only requirement for the chosen artifact is that it has prompted a relevant breakthrough in their trajectory through architectural education or professional practice, highlighting a revelatory moment. This original piece shall be accompanied by a handwritten page narrating the relevance of the chosen piece, together with a curriculum vitae, a portrait photograph of the author, and the Deed of Gift Form. The donated work will be on display in the 1x1 IAWA + ICAG 2023 exhibition during the ICAG Conference and, after ICAG finishes, in the Valencian Chamber of Architects.
