Professor Shelley F. Martin serves as panelist at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia

Professor Shelley F. Martin, Associate Director of the Center for Design Research/Payette OpenLAB, was invited to serve as a panelist discussing “Navigating Precarity in the Global Flux” for the opening of the Taiwan Exhibition at the Palazzo delle Prigioni in Venice on May 9.
The panel and exhibition NON- Belief: Taiwan Intelligens of Precarity, was a Collateral Event of the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2025, and was assembled by Professor Cheng-Luen Hsueh, Chair of the Department of Architecture National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and Curator of Taiwan Exhibition; and Professor C. David Tseng, University Chair Professor, National Cheng Kung University Department of Architecture, Taiwan, and Lecturer in Architecture and Urban Design, Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Also serving on the panel were:
Minsuk Cho, Mass Studies, architect of the 2024 Serpentine Pavilion and Golden Lion laurate 2014;
Nuno Gonçalves Fontarra, Partner/Architect Mecanoo;
Jan Knikker, Partner, Director Strategy & Development MVRDV;
Jana Revedin, Professor École Spéciale d’Achitecture, founder of the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture awarded by UNESCO;
Keith and Marie Zawistowski, Partners onSITE architecture, Professor + Associate Professor ENSA Grenoble.
The panel discussed how practitioners and educators specifically address and confront the current challenges and successes of global and local architectural practice, how academia may best formulate current curriculum, particularly for incoming students, and how both environments respond to future challenges facing architecture and education.
The panel was moderated by Yun Fu, Partner SEMESTER, and Design Critic Urban Planning and Design, Harvard GSD, and C. David Tseng.
