Adjunct Instructor Andrew Shaver’s First-Year Foundation Lab Exhibition
March 31, 2025

Last week, students in Andrew Shaver's first-year foundation lab showcased their exhibition - an exploration in visual communication.
"It's about building relationships between tools and making in design. Design emerges from the contemplation and practice of the underlying mechanics governing things. How do we make our ideas legible? We experiment in mediums and methodologies at various scales and transformations between drawings and models in the architectural language. In this process we make, edit, publish, present, and critique. This process is an explicit method underpinning the lab. Intertwining the lab process with the transformations between mediums and methods generates various discourses of interrelations of form and content production. General foundation design concepts reveal themselves through an architectural purview in an attempt to teach the students the general through the specific." - Andrew Shaver
