Assistant Professor Kristin Washco’s Third-Year Design Lab Trip to Maryland and NYC
April 8, 2025

Last week, students from Assistant Professor Kristin Washco's third-year design lab traveled to Maryland and New York City to visit works by architects such as Thomas Phifer, Renzo Piano, Heatherwick Studio, Santiago Calatrava, Zaha Hadid, Diller Scofio + Refro, Jean Nouvel, SANAA, and OMA.
The students explored and documented the built works through sketches and photographs and engaged in critical discourse with their peers and faculty to deepen their understanding of the works they encountered. The group also visited their current project site in Red Hook, Brooklyn to study the surrounding context and inform their in-progress design proposals.
