We’d like to congratulate Assistant Professor Luis Borunda for being awarded the Tsuboi Award by the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) for his paper, “Hierarchical Structures Computational Design and Digital 3D Printing”. The Tsuboi Award is one of the highest recognitions in architectural engineering research and innovation, specifically in lightweight structures

The Tsuboi Award was established in 1991 with the help of a donation from the late Mrs. Kazuko Tsuboi. This award honors the memory of Professor Yoshikatsu Tsuboi (Japan, 1907-1990), former President and Honorary Member of the IASS, and his outstanding contributions to structural and architectural design.

“It’s an honor to be acknowledged alongside distinguished figures such as Mutsuro Sasaki, Mamoru Kawaguchi, Heinz Isler, Jörg Schlaich, and Philippe Block. This award also became an opportunity to present our work to a select group of international research and industry leaders as part of the Felix Candela Colloquium at Sicli Pavilion, Geneve.” said Borunda.
