Professor Markus Breitschmid Awarded the Jacob A. Lutz III Award for Eminent Scholars

We’d like to congratulate Professor Markus Breitschmid for being named one of the inaugural recipients of the Jacob A. Lutz III Award for Eminent Scholars during Virginia Tech’s annual research awards ceremony, Celebrating Scholarly Distinction, on Nov. 6. The Lutz Awards are Virginia Tech’s first named award for research at the university level, establishing high visibility and prestige for some of the university's most accomplished scholars and bolstering the university’s upward trajectory in scholarly research.

David Rubin Land Collective Elected to Lead the Design of the New Pennsylvania Avenue Plan 

Recently, DAVID RUBIN Land Collective (Land Collective) was selected to lead the design of the New Pennsylvania Avenue Plan in collaboration with HR&A Advisors (HR&A), whose role was announced earlier this year. Our own Scott Archer, AIA, AICP, LEED AP, adjunct faculty member at the WAAC serving the Urban Design program is a principal at Land Collective and will help lead the process. He joined the firm in spring 2023 and rose quickly to principal.
