The Virginia Tech School of Architecture is thrilled to announce that VIA Design, founded by alumna Donna Phaneuf (Class of ‘83), has been awarded the T. David Fitz-Gibbon Virginia Architecture Firm Award by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Virginia! The Fitz-Gibbon is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Virginia-based architecture firm. It recognizes firms who are not only known for the quality of their work but who have consistently demonstrated outstanding contributions to the profession and the community. Only one firm may be honored each year (if at all), VIA is truly humbled to be the first recipient in five years!

“At VIA, we believe that architecture is more than just building structures; it is about shaping the future. Guided by our core principles of future-focused design, client-centricity, and community-driven initiatives, we strive to create architecture that not only shapes the built environment but also positively impacts the lives of those who interact with it. These principles are reflected in every project we undertake, from innovative sustainable practices to nurturing the next generation of architects. As the firm has evolved, we've maintained a commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where aspiring architects can learn and grow. This award serves as a validation of our approach and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of the entire VIA team. We would like to thank AIA Virginia for this prestigious honor.
