Internship Spotlight: Kate Rotolo
August 29, 2025

This summer, second-year undergraduate student Kate Rotolo interned at Tymoff+Moss Architects in Norfolk Virginia, where she gained hands-on experience in all stages of the design process, from as-builts to punch lists.
“My work included developing CAD drawings, SketchUp models, and client presentations. Beyond design, I gained exposure to architectural practice through staff meetings, lunch-and-learns, site visits, client meetings, and by supporting surveys, submittals, and contract preparations.
Working in a small firm was a distinct advantage, offering me the opportunity to engage deeply with projects and build meaningful professional relationships. I’m especially grateful for the guidance, mentorship, and thoughtful advice I received about design, career development, and professional life.
This experience strengthened my design skills, taught me how to navigate real-world project workflows, and highlighted the value of collaboration. I’m excited to carry these lessons forward in my studies and future projects, and I’m inspired to continue learning and contributing to meaningful work.” - Kate Rotolo
