Ryan Pieper, a professor at the VT Washington-Alexandria Center and overseer of the WAAC Workshop facilities, has always been involved with fabrication, product design, and DIY repair. Currently on his mind is the repair of a special Eames lounge chair. One of two gifted by Ray Eames to Ryan's late uncle, who was friends with the Eames duo, the chair is now in the shop at the WAAC undergoing a restoration journey.

With extensive research and help from WAAC students, Pieper has been able to showcase his passions for right-to-repair and has used a real-case scenario to teach new shop techniques. Follow along his Eames Chair repair on Instagram as he documents the restoration process (@eameslounge), where he also shares some of his uncle's unpublished images of the Eames' house and studio.
