Architecture Professor Markus Breitschmid, an architecture theoretician and author, has been invited to contribute to the 2020 Architecture Biennale in Venice.

Breitschmid has been invited to submit an original work addressing the subject of “Fading Borders.”

La Biennale di Venezia is the world’s preeminent exhibition and forum for architecture. It takes place every two years. This year’s biennale will be held from May 23rd to November 29th, 2020 at the Giardini, the Arsenale, as well selected palazzi throughout the lagoon city of Venice. The Biennale Architettura 2020 is the 17th edition, with Hasim Sarkis as its curator. Paolo Baratta is the president of La Biennale di Venezia.

Markus Breitschmid is the author of several books and other texts on contemporary architecture and philosophical aesthetics. His writings have been translated into about a dozen languages. He has been invited to lecture at many universities, museums, and professional associations in the Americas, Asia, and Europe. His most recent book is titled “Non-Referential Architecture” (first edition 2018; second edition 2019).
