Virginia Tech School of Architecture + Design is excited to announce the launch of the Foundation Fellowship. We now invite candidates to submit applications. The fellowship position was established to encourage an emerging educator/practitioner to develop their line of creative work and teaching in a research university. The Foundation Fellow spends two academic years in the School of Architecture + Design at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia beginning in August 2022. This is a non-tenure, nine-month, full-time position with benefits, at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor. Each year, the fellow will teach one course in their area of interest and two semesters of Foundation Design Lab, the design course for all first-year students in the four disciplines of the school — Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Industrial Design, and Interior Design. With a teaching load of three courses per year, the fellow can hone their teaching skills and develop their research in the context of a land-grant university that encourages interdisciplinary collaborations. In the fourth semester, the fellow will present and exhibit their work on campus for a discussion with students and faculty.
