Following two years of thesis prize juries on zoom during the pandemic, this year, our thesis exhibits, reviews, and the thesis award jury all took place in person. On Sunday, April 24, our community of Architecture students and faculty nominated the work of these twelve students for Thesis Honor Awards.

On Friday, April 29, we were honored to be joined on by three accomplished jurors:
Christian Bailey, Founding Principal of ODA, New York
Irene Hwang, Assistant Chair of Architecture at the University of Michigan's Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning
Jose Ibarra, Assistant Professor in Architecture at the University of Virginia School of Architecture

In addition to commenting on each of the twelve students' work, the jury engaged the students and faculty in a discussion about shared ideas and questions that emerged across multiple theses. The jury awarded this year’s Thesis Prize to Isaiah Ho for his project "moment of crisis: be water". They recognized its "outstanding capacity to address and synthesize social, conceptual, and tectonic concerns pertaining to our field today". The jury also awarded two Honorable Mention Prizes to Aria Hill for “Dynamic Transformations: An Experimentation in Form” and Suyue Shin for “Co-Presence of Duality in Architecture”.

Congratulations to all who were recognized!
