Cihan Yusufoglu

Cihan Yusufoglu is a PhD candidate in Architecture + Design Research at Virginia Tech University’s Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center (WAAC). His research interests include utopias, ideal city planning, and utopian smart cities. In his master’s thesis analyzed 19th and 20th century utopias through form, order, and flexibility at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Turkey. In his current doctoral study, he is exploring how utopianism in architecture shifted from socially structured theory to digitalization of cities in the 21st century. Currently, he teaches a history and theory seminar, ARCH 4114: Ideas, Concepts, and Representations of Architecture, at Virginia Tech’s WAAC.
