Markus Breitschmid will be a Visiting Professor in architecture theory at the Universidad de Piura this spring.

The private university, with an enrollment of about 8,000 students, is located both in the Miraflores District of Perú’s capital city of Lima and in the northern Peruvian city of Piura. Breitschmid will offer courses and workshops at UDEP in the domains of history, theory and criticism of architecture in the Master of Architecture program beginning in 2021 while also continuing his normal teaching duties at Virginia Tech.

Dean and Professor Dr. David Resano commented: “We truly thank Markus Breitschmid for accepting our invitation. It is an honor for us to be able to count on Professor Breitschmid in our teaching staff. He will not only bring great content to our program but our students have witnessed his kindness and generosity already. Our students will benefit greatly from the thoughts and ideas that Breitschmid will bring to our University.”

In 2015, the Colegio de Arquitectos del Perú, the country’s professional association of architects, presented their Gold Medal to Professor Breitschmid for his contributions to modern architecture in Perú.
