Kay F. Edge
Kay Edge is an Associate Professor of Architecture and Chair of the Graduate Architecture Program at Virginia Tech. She is a licensed architect and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree from the University of the South, a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech, and a Master of Environmental Design degree from Yale University.
She has worked professionally in New York City, New Haven, Connecticut (Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects), and Blacksburg, Virginia. Her teaching and research have been focused on design-build projects using innovative sustainable materials, most recently cork and locally-sourced hardwood cross-laminated timber. Her 2018-2019 design labs designed and built an award-winning train-viewing structure in Radford, Virginia. Undertaken in collaboration with colleague Edward Becker the project has been recognized with Design, Research, Design Education and Material Innovation awards.

She is a faculty fellow in the Virginia Tech Food Studies program and has researched the role that architecture can play in addressing food deserts and food insecurity.
She maintains a small residential, furniture, and object design practice in Blacksburg.
