William Galloway

Associate Professor

William Galloway has been a member of the faculty in the Architecture program at Virginia Tech since 1988. He has received the College’s University Certificate of Teaching Excellence twice (1995 & 2005), as well as the School’s J. Stoeckel Design Lab Teaching Excellence Award twice (2015 & 2021). He has been involved in multiple design research projects, including the design and construction of the college’s Research + Demonstration Facility (with Profs. Jack Davis and Bob Schubert), 1987-1994. From 1998 to 2003, he chaired the Graduate Architecture Program, and he served as the Director of the School of Architecture + Design from 2011 to 2014. Galloway’s current teaching and research focuses on building materials and construction methods and on the 19th century roots of 20th century innovations in architectural education, as well as how these influence contemporary teaching practice in architecture and design.
