Deidre Regan

Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice

Deidre holds a Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Virginia. Before teaching at Virginia Tech, which she began in 2013, Deidre practiced architecture in Charleston, SC, for 8 years, working in both residential and commercial architecture firms. Her academic interests focus on architecture and design pedagogy and her research interests seek to intersect theoretical and experiential learning through engagement with materials and making. She understands the importance of developing interdisciplinary teaching opportunities that prepare students to engage in effective communication and expand their fields of knowledge. Deidre is fascinated by the creative process itself and how it relates to teaching and learning and in her research, she attempts to frame ‘bricolage’ as an epistemic idea and a model for creativity.
