Michael Ermann

Professor

Michael Ermann has won 13 awards for his teaching, research, and design; published more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference presentations; and been awarded seven externally funded grants (four solo grants for $125,000+). Amber Book, the course he created to help architects study for their licensure exam, has enrolled more than 20,000 professionals and its YouTube channel has more than 7 million views and more than 35,000 subscribers. The Bubble Wrap house he designed won an international Architizer A+ design award and he authored the book Architectural Acoustics Illustrated (Wiley) to translate the science of architectural acoustics into the graphic language of architecture. In 2019, AIA Virginia recognized Professor Ermann with a lifetime achievement award.
