After Virginia Tech undergraduate + Harvard graduate study, Ronald Daniel came to VT for one year that became a long career, teaching graduate + undergraduate architecture with an ultimate focus in Foundation, > Chair of Foundation > Department Head
Served as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education at VT with oversight of many University programs such as Honors Program and teaching excellence center.

2019 – present - Daniel fully failed in retirement and enjoyably teaching Foundation Design at VT & doing some external consulting.

In Architecture – As faulty member and Foundation Chair, Multiple teaching awards, writing/presenting nationally and internationally on design education, developed VT summer transfer program (AIA award recognition). As Head, led successful NAAB accreditation for 5-year term, led implementation of new Industrial Design degree program, oversaw hiring of significant number of new women faculty members

In VT Provost’s Office – Development of a university-wide common reading program, oversight of new general education efforts culminating in the Pathways Program and reform of University Curriculum for Liberal Education, leadership of Learning Communities efforts across the university, developed special attention and programming for university teachers of first year students. Numerous national and international presentations on the common reading program, Learning Communities and curricular innovation

International work at Webster University – Primary member of leadership team for Webster University’s Global Citizenship Program (Webster’s liberal education program), Global Leadership Program (faculty/staff development program), liberal education reform at Webster and across international sites - In Geneva particularly, developed a research arm to support Swiss accreditation, implemented campus-wide community building efforts for students, faculty members and staff
