W_Internship – Teass \ Warren Architects

About the Experience
Spend two weeks immersed in the design culture of Teass \ Warren Architects, a Washington, DC based practice known for award-winning, context-sensitive design. Our work spans custom residences, multi-family housing, commercial interiors, and adaptive reuse projects — all with a strong focus on sustainability, urban infill, and community impact. This "W_internship" offers a unique window into the realities of practice while connecting classroom learning to live projects shaping the city.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in design pin-ups and internal critiques, contributing fresh ideas and learning from active discussions.

- Shadow architects to see how projects move from concept to construction.

- Join site visits for a firsthand look at how drawings become buildings.

- Sit in on client and consultant meetings to understand the collaborative process behind design.

- Gain insight into project management, office culture, and the day-to-day rhythm of a boutique design practice.

Qualifications

- Enrolled as a third-year student at Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture.

- Passion for architecture, urban design, and sustainable communities.

- Curious, collaborative, and eager to learn in a fast-paced studio setting.

- Foundational design skills and familiarity with architectural tools are welcome but not required.
