Gene Egger

Professor Emeritus

Long time teacher at the Virginia Tech College of Architecture and Urban Studies. He has taught at all levels in the Architecture Professional Degree Program and was Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies for almost 10 years. He has been inducted into the University Academy of Service and inducted into the University Academy of Teaching Excellence, of which he served as its chair in 1990.

He has concentrated studies in small town human settlement patterns and has prepared numerous articles and exhibitions that document the structure and forms of habitation in small towns and villages.

As Director of Special Programs for the Department of Architecture, he developed many studies of the “architectural environments” that confront our daily lives. This includes over 30 years of organizing and directing academic Study Abroad Programs for the College in Western Europe. In 2000, he received the University Alumni Award for Excellence in International Programs.
